About Us
The Deaf Church of Tallahassee was begun in the summer of 2007 as an outreach to the deaf community in the north Florida/south Georgia area. It is a place where the deaf can come together to worship God in their own language and fellowship with many others in a safe, loving environment geared to their needs.
Pastor Anderson Pickles and his wife and fellow interpreter Debora understand the differences between the deaf and hearing cultures, and are working to make a ministry that truly allows the deaf to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.
Here, the singing is expressed through sign language and body movement, aided by thundering bass and drums which emit vibrations that can be felt and used in corporate worship in a unique and beautiful way.
The goal for this new congregation is to spread to more and more of the deaf community and to eventually have a deaf pastor (Anderson and Debora Pickles are both hearing), and have services that are in ASL, interpreted for the hearing! |
